Basellandschaftliche Gebäudeversicherung (BGV)

Development and introduction of a system solution for the contributions system with Camunda

Initial Position

The previous solutions for managing the contributions system at Basellandschaftlicher Gebäudeversicherung (BGV; buildings insurance of the Canton of Basel-Landschaft) were based on outdated technologies (Access DB, Excel) and business processes were not being used optimally. In the context of an overall project, these were to be replaced by new process-based software. The development and introduction of this system solution was the first implementation project (flagship) in the overall project.

Role nag

nag informatik was responsible for the development project. During this process, it worked closely with BGV to ensure the well-thought-out business analysis, agile development, test monitoring and on-time delivery in three phases. This strategy centred on the process-oriented analysis and implementation of executable workflows (BPMN) and decisions (DMN – Decision Model and Notation).

The Camunda workflow management system was used during development. The workflow engine (execution of workflows) used in the core of the technology supports the direct management of developed process steps by the modelled BPMN (Business Process Model and Notation) models.

Aim

A new system solution was developed and implemented for three divisions of BGV (BSI, ESP and WasserPlus):

  • BGV-specific processes, interfaces and master data create a uniform look and feel.
  • Use of microservices within the meaning of future-oriented architecture. Changeability and fail-safe operation of the individual services due to unpairing.
  • Supports the modular “best of breed” approach and the state of the art. Scalability, reusability and expandability of the overall solution
Customer

Basellandschaftliche Gebäudeversicherung (BGV) insures all buildings in the Canton of Basel-Landschaft against fire and elemental damage, as well as offering water damage cover. BGV is a non-profit organisation, but it does operate based on economic principles. Its commitment to fire safety, elemental damage prevention, occupational health and safety and fire brigades means it is more than just an insurer but rather a true security institution for everyone who lives and works in the Canton of Basel-Landschaft.
